Font backup

Post by dw »

I've got the TCS553/582 am looking forward to reprogramming it. I successfully backed up the original firmware and internal eeprom from the mega16, but I'd also like to back up the necessary 4 pages of fonts in the external eeprom that the firmware relies upon. Is there any procedure to do this? Or are these to be found somewhere as BMP files that can be reloaded via the TVI Control Panel app?

Thanks for using our Support Forum for posting your question. Unfortunately, you can not backup your external EEPROM. However, you can download bitmap fonts to your TC553/852 controller here and reload them to the EEPROM at any time.

Here is the procedure on how to reload fonts to the TC553/852 controller's EEPROM:

1. Unzip TC553/852 fonts archive to your local machine (DO NOT edit .bmp files)
2. Make sure your controller is connected to your local machine
3. Select the appropriate COM port, Baud Rate and click Connect
4. Switch to Modes tab, choose Graphic
5. Click Open File in the Picture section, select screen1.bmp and click Send
6. In the EEPROM section select Save As and select screen # 1, click OK and OK again
7. Repeat the same sequence for every font file.

If you need an assistance regarding this issue, please contact TVI Electronics Technical Support. We'll be more than glad to assist you.

Thank you for choosing TVI Electronics!
